Recently, an investigation of the application of MgO-C bricks to the lower vessel of a RH degasser was undertaken. To develop a suitable application, it is necessary to understand that the damage mechanism changes with operation conditions and is different in each part of the vessel. This paper summarizes our observations and analyses of MgO-C bricks app lied to lower vessels of commercial RH degassers.
