The rate of hot metal pretreatment in hot metal ladles or torpedo cars has increased recently, so that improved durability of both A1_2O_3- SiC-C bricks and repair materials have been required ~(1)). Accordingly, shotcrete materials that have been used in various shops were studied.It was confirmed that Al_2O_3-MgO and Al_2O_3-SiO_2-SiC/C shotcrete materials, for repairing hot metal pretreatment vessels, have high corrosion resistance. In addition, the materials adhere well to used bricks and exhibit early strength development after gunning. At this time, a trial in actual service is being promoted.
