It is desirable to develop refractories that have mechanical flexibility, to decrease the damage doe to mechanical stress. It has been reported ~(1)2)) that a torsion test is good for evaluating the mechanical flexibility of bricks used in rotary cement kilns, although there are various methods to do the evaluation. In this paper, the mechanical flexibility of bricks for secondary refining furnaces will be discussed.
